Box Score in PDF Format NASSAU, Bahamas -
Oakland University forward Katie Wolfe scored the last two of her 22 points with 2:13 remaining in the game to lead the Grizzlies to a 54-52 victory of Ole Miss on Saturday night. Ole Miss (7-1) will play Marshall in the consolation game of the Sun Splash Shootout on Sunday, while Oakland (3-4) will face Clemson in the championship game.
Wolfe got things going early for Oakland as she scored the first 10 points of the game for the Grizzlies. Lady Rebel sophomore center Amber Watts did her best to match Wolfe as she scored eight points in the first half and finished the game with 17 points and eight rebounds, but it was not enough to overcome the poor shooting of the Lady Rebels.
"Wolfe was a tough match-up for us," said Ole Miss head coach Ron Aldy. "She could post up and also knock down the three. She gave us fits the whole game."
Ole Miss and Oakland battled back and forth for the majority of the game. There were nine ties and five lead changes with Ole Miss' largest lead three points, while Oakland's largest lead was four points. The Lady Rebels forced the final tie of the game on a Carletta Brown free throw with 2:26 left to play in the game, before Wolfe's lay-up made the final difference in the game.
Anne Hafeli recorded 15 points for Oakland and Wolfe led the Grizzlies with nine rebounds and dished out four assists.
Ole Miss finished the game shooting a dismal 27.1 percent from the field, including making just 3-of-17 from the three point line. The Lady Rebels made 17-of-26 from the charity stripe and out-rebounded Oakland 45-34.
Oakland made 21-of-49 shots from the field, good for 42.9 percent. The Grizzlies made 8-of-13 free throws.
The Lady Rebels will play Marshall at 5 p.m. (CST) in the consolation game of the Sun Splash Shootout. Marshall was defeated by Clemson in overtime in the opening game of the two-day tournament.
