OXFORD, Miss. - Marie Deparrois and Amber Watts scored in double digits for Ole Miss, but a losing effort on the glass, particularly the defensive glass, saw the Lady Rebels (12-8, 1-6 SEC) fall to Auburn(15-5, 3-4 SEC) by a score of 61-48.

Deparrois led the Lady Rebels in scoring with 11 points to go along with 10 points from Watts, but it wasn't enough to overcome an aggressive Auburn team. The Tigers out-rebounded Ole Miss 50-40, notching 14 second chance points to help seal up the win. Six of Watts' 10 points came from the free throw line.

"I don't think scoring was as much of a problem as it was not taking advantage of opportunities that were presented to us," said head coach Ron Aldy. "Our guards did not take charge and attack the basket. As a result we were left holding the ball with little time on the shot clock and nothing to do with it."

Ole Miss came out shooting cold in the first half hitting only six baskets from the floor for a 20 percent clip. The Lady Rebels took a brief 6-5 lead off a three-point basket from Deparrois, one of two she had in the game, but Auburn would storm back out to a 29-17 halftime lead with 35 percent shooting.

The second half saw the Lady Rebels hit at a better pace from the floor, almost matching Auburn's scoring for the half behind 30 percent shooting from the floor, but the lead was too great to overcome as the Tigers grabbed the win.

"Defensively we didn't play all that badly, however we rebounded very poorly and didn't grab loose balls," Aldy said. "Auburn was very aggressive going after the ball. We had a good first stand nearly every trip down the court, but we got beat on second and third chance put backs."

Three Lady Tigers scored in double digits for the game with Mandisa Stevenson and Nancy Derrick recording 11 points each to go along with 10 points from Natasha Brackett. Tia Miller and LaKeisha Johnson both recorded 10 rebounds for Auburn.

Ole Miss applied steady defensive pressure to the Tigers, forcing 12 steals on the way to 17 Auburn turnovers, leading to 14 Lady Rebel points. Auburn came up with eight steals for the game.

Ole Miss will take to the road for a two game swing against top 15 teams beginning with No. 4 Tennessee on Thursday in Knoxville, Tenn. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. CST.
